| DISARMAMENT and PEACE POLICIES
Over the years we have had consistent actions around disarmament.
- We are part of a local vigil on affirming peace and protesting
war every Tuesday Noon to One in front of the Federal Building/Post
office on Liberty and Fifth street
- We organize various educational programs throughout the
year. See Calendar.
- We have Eye on Congress, an alert system that follows
bills and resolutions in Congress and we publish these alert
in our newsletter, we write letters that follows and protest
the issues that are brought to our attention.
- We have an annual action on tax day: April 15, in front
of the Federal Building, we are protesting the large amount
of our taxes that is going towards military expenditure
and nuclear weapons upkeep. We would like to see our tax
money redirected towards people 's need such as health care,
childcare, education, and the environment. We feel that
security is based as well on the well being of the entire
community.
- We also have made a video at the Art fair interviewing
150 people who told us in a 15 seconds clip: " what
Peace Means to Me" This is part of our new campaign
called: " Listen to People for a Change."
- One of our members has developed the war project to describe
current wars
